Hello! Hopefully, this finds you and your family well. It may seem strange with the ongoing pandemic for the Committee to continue to plan for this year’s conference; however, it is not something that we can throw together at the last minute. While we realize that hosting a conference this year may not be possible we are planning for a positive outcome. Rest assured that your health and safety are of paramount importance to us and we will not hesitate to cancel the conference if necessary.
Last year Jeff Welton from Nautel celebrated Nautel’s 50th anniversary with 50 tech tips. We welcome Jeff back again as our Thursday Workshop presenter.
Jeff has almost 30 years of experience and hundreds of transmitter site visits under his belt. He has seen many interesting things and will share some of the challenges he encounters most often, along with common sense based and affordable solutions. The content will cover the topics of maintenance, lightning protection, safety, security and related issues, so there should be a little something for everyone in this fast-paced presentation.
Grounding, Site Layout and Installation Considerations: Jeff will look at all aspects of equipment installation. The focus will be on a transmitter installation; but will also provide tools and methodologies that should help to streamline any install, whether at the studio or transmitter site. Jeff will discuss things that are frequently overlooked and the things can be done to prevent that from happening. There will also be a discussion on the ramifications of forgetting some items, and what can be done to minimize any downtime and damage.
If you have any suggestions for papers, either this year or in future years, you can use the form to send it to Adam or email papers@ccbe.ca. We also encourage you to nominate your fellow engineers for our various awards, see the awards tab for more information.
In the meantime, please visit ccbe.ca. You can get caught up on past newsletters and even look over some of the presentations offered last year.
