March 2020 Newsletter
Welcome to our new electronic newsletter! It replaces the paper letter we used to send to all of our members.
The CCBE is once again excited to present four days of technical papers, workshops and training sessions conducted by design engineers, industry professionals and their representatives. You will be in the company of fellow broadcast engineers and technologists attending from Newfoundland to Manitoba, and have the opportunity to share experiences of surviving in today’s changing broadcast environment.
The first piece of news we have to report comes from our friends at WABE. They have informed us that the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is discontinuing their Broadcast Systems Technology program. This is very disappointing as it is the last Canadian program specifically designed to train Broadcast Technologists to support Broadcasting, Streaming stations, equipment supply vendors and support companies across the country. All television and radio broadcasters, as well as ISED, employ SAIT graduates.
WABE has always had a very close relationship with SAIT and has contacted the school administration as well as government officials to express their concerns.
If you would like to add your voice to affirm the importance of this program to our industry across the country, we encourage you to do so by contacting the following people:
